Post by Seti Troy on Jan 15, 2010 15:46:29 GMT -5
First Name: Seti
Last Name: Troy
Heritage: Child of a British squib of a pure blood line and an American Wizard who prefers a mostly muggle life.
Year: Fourth
First Choice For House: Slytherin
Second Choice For House: Ravenclaw
(we can't guarantee that you get your first choice of house. but we will try to at least get you into your second choice.)
Looks
Eyes: Medium Blue with flecks of green.
Hair: Usually short, Brown that's a shade lighter than black
General Appearance: Medium height for her age, a hint of baby fat hiding an ok figure.
Dressing Style: Extremely low maintenance unless it's a formal sort of event. Absolutely Despises the uniform skirts at school, and will transfigure them into pants to match the boys any chance she gets. When left to pick her own clothes, she favors a combination of slacks or men's jeans, a tee shirt and a pull over if the weather calls for it. She also avoids pink and light purple like the plague.
General Character Traits
Strengths: A listener and advice giver, she always seems to know where to start. She tests well, almost without trying, and always knows where to find the answer.
Weaknesses: She is not a memorization person. Lists, and spelling especially, give her lots of trouble.
Deadlines are her arch-rival, mainly because of motivational issues. She won't turn in the project on time but, the night before the 'hand it in or take a zero' she will stay up until three and hand in the best paper you've ever seen, for half credit.
Personality: She's usually quiet, listening and people watching to find out what's going on. She always is a fount of useful, logical, and usually sane advice, and it's not her fault if no one ever listens. She's always got a 'plan b' for everything, and she's no fan of idiotic rules. She wants to eventually open her own enchanting business, like her father's mother, and she seems to have at least some talent in her runes class.
Personal History: Her mother was cast out of her British Pureblood home for being a squib. They were kind enough to home school her in writing, and maths, and help her get set up in the muggle world at the age of 18. By twenty, she had moved to America, and soon after met a wonderful man in New Mexico. Roswell, in fact. Time went by, and they wed and lived as muggles and had a boy, Oswin, and avoided the topic of magic all together. Their second child, Seti, started in on the accidental magic before her first birthday. By the time she was old enough to build memories that would last her whole life, everything was sorted and they lived with magic as a part of their lives because Mr. Troy was a wizard who just happened to prefer a mostly muggle lifestyle. When Seti was eight, the family moved to the suburbs of London because of Mr. Troy's job. She continued attending muggle school with her brother until she received her Hogwarts letter. She keeps up with her muggle education over the summer and winter breaks, mostly by her own choice. At hogwarts she's known as a quiet girl you can usually get good advice out of, mostly for the price of some homework help. To the teachers, magical and muggle, she's the girl who could be at the top of everything, if only she put a bit more effort into it.
Strong Area of Magic:Runes and transfiguration, even though she hates transfiguration.
Weak Area of Magic:
Astronomy, being almost pure memorization, is her weakest subject.
Potions would be a disaster if she didn't have the odd knack of knowing when a potion is about to go critical. The strange ten second or so warning doesn't help her actually get them right, but lets her kill the heat and call the professor to vanish the mess.
RP Sample:
The middle of august brought with it the annual Troy family trip to London for school shopping. Her brother, Oz, loved it because it was a day out with his kid sister, who never spent enough time with him since she started attending boarding school. Her mom was usually happy to shop muggle London, but the whole family knew that Diagon Alley made her depressed. Dad was, well, his usual slightly eccentric self and took joy in everything, even the traffic jam they got caught in. Seti was both sad to have the summer ending, and happy that school was almost back in session. She channeled her mismatched emotions into horsing around with her brother in muggle London as their mother looked on, amused and slightly disproving. Dad finally finished shoving all their morning's shopping into the trunk of the car, and used their distraction and his place half in the trunk to recast the short term theft deterrent ward over their ride home.
That done, he shut the boot and declared "Time for Ice Cream!"
Oz and Seti jumped up and down like children half their age, chattering excitedly about Fortescue's and what flavor they would get before collapsing on each other in a fit of laughter at their own antics.
"Alright you two," mom interrupted in her no nonsense voice, "That's enough. Time to head for the Cauldron."
The children sorted themselves out and put on their serious faces in the time it took to walk from the parking space to the Leaky Cauldron, a block away. Inside the wizarding pub, dad enlarged a set of outer robes for everyone that he'd kept in his pocket and handed them around. After a cheery "Hello" to the barkeep, the family made its way out into the ally.
Oz elbowed his sister, frowning when she didn't retaliate. "I hate your 'witch face'." He mumbled in her ear.
He always said that, when Seti stopped acting like his sister and started acting like the young woman everyone expected her to be. "I know, Oz." Her tone carried her sadness, even if nothing else about her did. "C will be back when we get home."
Oz offered her a sad smile at her pet name, and put on his own 'adult face' as their parents lead them to the ice cream parlor.
