First Name: Idris
Last Name: Ar'Rahim
Heritage: Muggle-born
Age: 35
Looks
Eyes: Brown
Hair: Bald
General Appearance: Tall and almost skeletally thin, with swarthy features and a shaved head. He has a tattoo in Arabic around the back of his head from one ear to the other. He keeps his facial hair trimmed down to a goatee, though he allows this to grow long and keeps it curled up under his chin.
Dressing Style: When working, Idris is all business. Plain, unadorned robes in a stark shade of black, augmented by an equally severe black hooded cloak when the weather requires one. Off-duty, he is somewhat less formal, favoring the loose-fitting, long-cut clothes associated with Muslim men. He carries a string of prayer beads wound around his wrist and sometimes wears a kufi. One thing he is never without is his very distinctive wand sheath, which is fitted into a bracer up his left forearm, allowing him to quickly draw it simply by unfolding his arms.
General Character Traits
Strengths: Loyalty, Dedication to friends and duty, attention to detail
Weaknesses: Guilt-ridden, over-attention to detail leaves him oblivious to more 'big picture' situations.
Personality:
Idris is a very serious person. An Arab Muslim born and raised in England, he often comes across as withdrawn, tending to focus more inwardly, while trying not to judge those around him. He takes his religious life seriously, and brooks little affront in that regard. Nonetheless, he is fiercely loyal to those who are his friends, and has been known to put himself in harm's way when the need arises. After all, it is what any person should be willing to do for another...
Personal History:
Idris was born and raised in England, the son of Arab parents emigrated from Dubai. Raised Muslim, he was often affronted by the decadence he saw around him, and as such became a quiet, reserved boy. His parents, who mostly wanted to 'go native' in their new home, encouraged him to get out more, blend with the local people a bit more. When he was eight they sent him for violin lessons. When he was ten they added fencing.
Life changed when he turned 11, and a certain letter arrived in the mail, inviting him to Hogwarts. His parents, asserting their own religious identity for the first time in years, were horrified. Magic, of course, is strictly forbidden. At first, Idris attempted to ignore the calling. But by the end of that summer, the need to fulfill his potential had grown too great. Despite his fears, he said farewell to his family - who told him he had no home to return to - and out, looking to 'go native' all upon his own.
His life at Hogwarts was... as uneventful as one's life can be, given the events of the time. He was sorted almost immediately into Ravenclaw, where his introspective nature and keen, inquisitive mind allowed him to fit right in. He even found other Muslim Wizards there, and they formed their own little circle, eventually including their brothers and sisters from other Houses as well. He joined the Dueling Club and twice tried out for Quidditch. Failing one entirely, he played a single season as a Chaser and enjoyed a successful time, if not remarkably so, before retiring to more scholarly pursuits thereafter. Unable to return home during the off seasons, he spent the summers shuttling between the homes of his friends, a few weeks here, a few weeks there, at first at the mercy of their parents but eventually working odd jobs to pay for his own expenses.
Due to the protection afforded by traveling in numbers, his circle of friends rarely encountered serious trouble - even from ill-meaning Slytherins - but into every life a little rain must fall. The stormcloud in Idris's life was Bartholomew Cubbins who, unable to live down his unfortunate name, decided to take it out on anyone who would stand still long enough. Twice their scuffles landed them in the infirmary, and many times that number landed them in detention.
As he progressed in years, both avoiding and running afoul of trouble, he eventually became interested in areas of wizarding law. By the time it came time for his OWLs and such, he declared his intention to pursue a career as an Auror, and made the necessary grades. It was during his last year at Hogwarts that he shaved his head and got his tattoo. In Arabic, it reads, "I seek refuge in God from Evil."
Upon graduation, he signed on with the Ministry almost at once, and has been enjoying a modest but successful career as an investigator these last five years.
Strong Area of Magic: Divination, Combat magic
Weak Area of Magic: Transfiguration, Potions
RP Sample:
Idris swept into the briefing room just as the Chief was checking the time.
"Apologies, Chief Gibbons, I was... delayed." The Chief had little patience for his need to observe prayer, and Idris was careful not to provoke her.
"You've been reassigned," she said, cutting to the quick, "Orders from the very top."
"Reassigned?" He could hardly believe his ears. "The Garrity case was a success. Three more straggler Death Eaters sent off to Azkaban. I thought..." He thought he was in line for a promotion.
"Reassigned. Civilian security concerns. Deep cover. Here's your orders." Gibbons handed him a scroll.

Idris ran a hand over his bald head. This was about to become a very interesting year...
